Swing From The Heart

“Swing From the Heart”, the charity programme of the CIMB Asia Pacific Classic, Malaysia tournament returns in 2011.

Members of the public can take part in fundraising activities during the CIMB Asia Pacific Classic, Malaysia 2011 with all proceeds going to the IJN Foundation.

Last year’s Swing From The Heart activities raised a total of RM59,235 for the IJN Foundation and the proceeds were used to fund medical treatment for needy heart patients

Visit us with your family and friends at the CIMB Foundation exhibition area, Public Village, The MINES Resort & Golf Club from 11am – 3pm daily throughout the 4 tournament days. Attractive prizes await those who take part.

CIMB Junior Golf Development Programme

As giving back to the communities we serve is very much a part of CIMB Group’s DNA, we are determined that our title sponsorship of the CIMB Asia Pacific Classic can bring about long-term sustainable benefits to junior golfers in the region.

We leverage on our relationship with the TOUR to partner with the TOUR Academy to establish and run the CIMB Junior Golf Development Programme for the region’s top junior golfers from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. The programme is also supported by the respective golf governing bodies of the four countries.

The programme, which is funded by CIMB Foundation, is currently in its 2nd year. With approximately 130 top junior golfers in two age categories – 12 and under, and 15 and under - the programme aims to prepare the juniors for a career in golf either as a professional player, or as a professional in the golf industry.

Structured as a series of golf instruction camps, the top players are selected in each camp to advance further to the next level based on their performance at the camps, the school grades, an essay and their involvement in charity activities. To inspire the juniors to ever better performance, the Level 4 camp is held at the TOUR Academy’s headquarters at TPC Sawgrass, Florida.

In 2010, eight junior golfers – a boy and girl from each of the four countries – were selected for the Level 4 camp at TPC Sawgrass.

The CIMB Junior Golf Development Programme is premised on our belief that a TOUR event in our midst can inspire a generation of junior golfers in the pursuit of their dream to play professional golf at the highest level. Therefore, one of the goals of the programme is that in the next 5-6 years, one of our juniors will be good enough to play in the CIMB Asia Pacific Classic, whether by qualifying or by way of a sponsor’s exemption.
